

The National Democratic Institute is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization working to support and strengthen democratic institutions worldwide through citizen participation, openness and accountability in government.
Georgia
NDI has worked in Georgia since 1994, and has conducted programs in political party development, parliamentary strengthening, safeguarding elections, civil society development, women’s political participation, and local governance. In the lead-up to Georgia’s 2003 democratic transition, NDI provided extensive training to political parties, fostered dialogue among political party leaders, and supported domestic election monitors. Since 2003, NDI has provided technical assistance and support to parliament, supported local civic actors working to bolster public involvement in the reform process, provided technical assistance for election monitoring efforts, and conducted public opinion research examining citizens’ attitudes toward reforms.
