On November 10, 2020, NDI launched the International Working Group (IWG) for Supporting the Advancement of Gender Equality (SAGE) in Nigeria. Leveraging its global experience supporting women’s political participation, and more than 20 years’ presence in Nigeria, NDI began the SAGE project in the summer of 2020.

TBILISI – Poll results released today by the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and CRRC Georgia show that Georgians remain committed to voting on election day (88 percent), but largely undecided (59 percent) ahead of parliamentary elections on October 31. They remain focused on economic issues, and open to persuasion based on party policy platforms.

I’m honored to address the Kalinowski Forum at a pivotal moment for the future of Belarus. I’d like to thank the Lithuanian parliament, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other partners for organizing this incredibly timely event.
I’m recording this message several days before you’ll see it. Much may have changed in Belarus between now and then. Events on the ground are moving quickly.
NDI condemns the recent non-democratic elections, intimidation and repression of candidates, election observers, and independent media, and the continuing violence against peaceful protesters in Belarus. We stand with the Belarusian people in their demand for free association, free assembly, free speech, and free elections. Belarus best protects its sovereignty and independence by allowing its citizens to exercise their democratic rights. NDI joins the U.S.
On August 10, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) announced plans to sanction 11 U.S.
The global NDI family is saddened by the passing of John Hume - politician, peacemaker, and fearless voice for civil rights and non-violence. We remember John for the indelible mark he left on peace in Northern Ireland, and democracy and human dignity around the world.
