The library consists of a collection containing more than 2,500 volumes and 200 periodical subscriptions (both paper and electronic). The collection relates principally to international issues, and is augmented by functional categories such as local government, civil-military affairs and other matters tied to the Institute’s core programs. The book collection is catalogued according to the Library of Congress standard and is available only to NDI staff.
There is also an archive of files and briefing materials pertaining to the development and implementation of the many democracy assessment missions held throughout the world.
An audio/video collection is also housed in the library. This collection features specific topics relating to observation missions, functional training materials, political parties, women in politics, human rights and media interviews of NDI staff.
The librarian manages these collections, provides reference assistance to staff and obtains materials to further enhance the library collections.
