Bob McMullan, the Australian Secretary for International Development Assistance, writes: “I observed the elections as one of about 60 delegates from 20 countries with the National Democratic Institute. The NDI reported that ‘throughout the country, people voted enthusiastically and in large numbers. With a few exceptions, the elections were well administered and took place in a peaceful environment, resulting in a credible electoral process that met international standards.’”
