When Winnie Byanyima was growing up in Uganda, she listened to the conversations her mother held with groups of women who would meet in her home to discuss politics in a country where women had very little say.
Today, after serving three terms in the Ugandan Parliament, leading the first parliamentary women’s caucus, and being selected for her current position as director of the United Nations Development Program Gender Team, Byanyima finds that too little has changed for women in politics around the world.
