Joe Richburg
Joe currently serves as Vice President & Assistant General Counsel for CBS Corporation, focusing on litigation matters including defamation, right of publicity, sports litigation and copyright law. Joe was actively involved in a high profile copyright litigation that resulted in a victory at the U.S. Supreme Court in 2014. Prior to joining CBS, Joe worked at the New York offices of Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP and Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP.
Earlier in his career, Joe worked on Capitol Hill for his hometown Congressman, Rep. Donald M. Payne where he served as a speechwriter on domestic policy and also functioned as Rep. Payne’s liaison to the Education and Workforce Committee.
Joe is on the board of Practicing Attorneys for Law Students, a nonprofit mentoring organization for minority law students. Joe is also an active member of the Council of Urban Professionals and the Metropolitan Black Bar Association.
Joe holds an undergraduate degree from Duke University and a JD from the University of Michigan Law School. At Michigan Law, Joe worked at the South Africa Human Rights Commission in Johannesburg, South Africa as part of an externship program.
