Supporters of intra-party democracy argue that parties employing it are more likely to select capable and responsible leaders who enjoy greater electoral success. This paper discusses the advantages and risks of intraparty democracy, examining some of the specific questions parties may face in implementing more internally inclusive decision-making procedures.
