Paul Amegakpo

Guinea Resident Director

Paul Komivi Sémeko Amegakpo is NDI's resident director in Guinea. He was previously NDI's resident program manager in the Central African Republic (CAR). Prior to joining NDI, Paul was a civil society activist in Togo for more than 10 years. From 2012 to 2015, he served as executive director of Togo's Civil Society National Dialogue (Concertation Nationale de Société Civile du Togo), a network of 72 organizations working on democracy and governance. Since 2013, Paul has been a member of the West Africa Election Observers Network (Comité Exécutif du réseau Ouest Africain pour la Surveillance Electorale, ROASE). He has coordinated several domestic election observation missions in Togo since 2007. In 2012, he founded a platform called Citizen Synergy for Democratic Elections in Togo (Synergie Citoyenne pour des Elections Démocratiques au Togo, SYCED) bringing together key organizations specialized in citizen observation. Paul obtained a law degree from the University of Lome and attended numerous training sessions on "democracy and governance". He brings many years of experience in the coordination and management of civil society organizations, as well as citizen mobilization. Mr. Amegakpo participated in many international election observation missions and has advocated for the promotion of democracy, human rights and public freedoms in South Africa, Benin, Ivory Coast, Guinea and Mali. He is the author of numerous studies about governance and citizen action.
