Statement From NDI’s Elections Director Pat Merloe On False Accusations About NDI’S Role Monitoring Georgia’s 2020 Parliamentary Elections

For over three decades, the Natioinal Democratic Institute (NDI) has supported non-partisan civic groups in monitoring elections around the world in keeping with the highest international standards of transparency, impartiality and fairness. Our efforts during Georgia’s 2020 parliamentary elections were no exception. Any claims to the contrary are absolutely false, including spurious accusations made against NDI representative Irakli Naskidashvili. Efforts to spread disinformation will not deter NDI from our long-standing commitment to working openly with partners in Georgia to promote accountability, inclusion, and transparency, which are vital to the integrity of the democratic process.
