But despite its popularity, this tool has its limitations. Even if they provide instant gratification and equal opportunity for free expression to today’s digital youth, Facebook and other social media cannot be a substitute for the structured dialogue that is needed to bring together the contrasting visions of identity and way of life at play in today’s Tunisia.
