Jordan Elections Show Clear Improvement over 2007 Polls, NDI Observer Mission Says

The conduct of Jordan's Nov. 9 parliamentary elections showed a clear improvement over the nation's 2007 polls, although a number of structural shortcomings and other problems should be addressed for future elections, according to the findings of an NDI election observation mission.

Burma Groups Expose Fraud and Abuse in the November 7 Elections

Dozens of Burma border-based organizations with feeds from human rights organizations and exile media launched a website to share citizen reports of widespread abuse and fraud around the first elections in Burma in 20 years. Burma Election Tracker (www.burmaelectiontracker.org ) shows detailed reports, eye witness accounts, pictures and video gathered through established networks of civic organizations operating throughout Burma.

NDI Fields International Observation Mission for Jordanian Parliamentary Election

Preliminary Statement on Voter Registration in the Central African Republic

NDI's election monitoring partner in the Central African Republic (CAR), the National Elections Observatory (ONE) issued its preliminary statement on Nov. 2 after observing the country's voter registration process. The CAR is scheduled to hold overdue presidential and legislative elections on Jan. 23. This was the country's second effort this year to register voters in preparation for the elections.
