A recent National Democratic Institute conference was designed to foster the use of new media platforms by social activists in the Middle East and North Africa.
The NDI conference, held in Istanbul, Turkey, with support from Arabic-language Web site Aswat, brought together activists from 11 countries to discuss incorporating new media technologies into a larger communication and outreach strategy.
