"In a ceremony attended by several political party representatives and members of the diplomatic corps, the Executive Secretary of FFPP, Anicet Kayigema, said that the Academy was being launched to equip the youth with the tools necessary for them to take interest in politics."

Selected YWLA Participant Profiles

The Young Women Leaders Academy (YWLA) is sponsored by NDI and hosted by the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar (SFS-Qatar). It provides practical skills and knowledge to help them use the political process to make meaningful improvements in their communities. The women, aged 10 to 28, were selected for the program because of their demonstrated leadership potential. They came from countries across the Middle East and North Africa.

Twelve young Russian leaders visited Brussles from June 29 to July 3 as part of a study visit organized by the EU-Russia Centre and NDI’s Moscow office. The pariticipants, ranging from 21 to 27 years old, came from the Pskov and Karelia regions of Russia and represented a variety of organizations including political parties, youth groups and a number of NGOs.
