  1. Does NDI offer internships? / What is a Temporary Project Assistant?

NDI doesn’t have internships. However, our Temporary Project Assistant positions are a good way to get to know NDI and gain relevant experience. The positions are 3 months and renewable up to 6 months. These positions provide programmatic, administrative, and logistical support to regional and functional teams.

  1. There are two different jobs that I’m interested in, can I just apply for one job and be considered for both?

You must submit a separate application for each position.

  1. How will I know my resume has been received by the Talent Acquisition team?

You will receive an email confirming the successful submission of your application. If you don’t see it after several minutes, check your spam folder as it may have been misdirected there.

  1. Will my resume be considered for future openings?

You must submit a new application to be considered for future openings.

  1. What is the length of time a job will remain posted?

It varies, applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis, so we recommend that you apply as soon as possible.

  1. How will I know if a position has been filled?

All applicants will receive an email at the conclusion of the recruitment process notifying them of their status.

  1. May I follow up by email or telephone to find out the status of my application?

Due to the level of interest in our openings, we are unable to provide individual status updates. However, all applicants will receive a confirmation email letting them know their application was received and an email notifying them of their final status. If there is a strong match between your background and the needs of the position, a recruiter will be in touch to schedule a conversation.

  1. How may I find out the salary range for a particular position?

Salary ranges for U.S.-based positions are listed in the What We Offer section of the job posting. For international roles, candidates will discuss compensation during the initial call with your recruiter.

  1. Does my political affiliation affect my application?

NDI is a nonpartisan organization and welcomes people of all political affiliations who are committed to strengthening democracy and supporting democratic institutions globally.

  1. Does NDI provide visa sponsorship for US positions?

NDI does not sponsor applicants for U.S. positions.

  1. What should I include in my resume? Do I need a cover letter?

Your resume should provide enough detail to clearly demonstrate how you meet the minimum and preferred qualifications for the position. Include all relevant experience (including internships and volunteer work) with months and years listed for each position. Cover letters, while not required, can strengthen your application by explaining your interest in the role and serving as a writing sample. All submitted materials should be clearly written, grammatically correct, and error free.

  1. Does AI or an applicant tracking system review or reject my resume?

An NDI recruiter reviews each application individually. We use an applicant tracking system to help us process, review, respond to and store applicant information but neither the ATS nor AI technology review or make decisions about applicant qualifications.

  1. Will I receive feedback on my application?

Unfortunately, due to the high level of interest in our openings we cannot provide specific feedback to individuals. We recommend you submit a thorough resume describing all relevant experience and education to demonstrate your qualifications for the position.

  1. For U.S. positions do I have to live in DC, MD, or VA, or are there fully remote options? If I don’t live in DC, MD, or VA, can I start work remotely and then relocate?

NDI does not offer remote positions and all NDI headquarters employees are required to be residents of DC, MD or VA as of their first day of employment.

  1. Are there opportunities for internal mobility?

Yes, NDI employees have opportunities to apply for internal openings and be promoted within their own team.

  1. Do I need to meet all qualifications listed in the job description?

Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed in the job description to be considered beyond the resume review stage. We always recommend submitting a resume that includes all relevant experience and education and clearly demonstrates how you meet the minimum qualifications. As NDI openings are competitive, not all applicants who meet the minimum or even preferred qualifications will be interviewed or selected.

  1. Will NDI provide relocation assistance for U.S. positions?

No, NDI doesn’t provide relocation assistance for U.S.-based positions. International positions typically include relocation and visa assistance but depend on the specific circumstances of the selected candidate and location.

  1. Who do I contact if I have technical issues submitting my application?

  1. Can I reapply if I’ve been rejected in the past?

Yes, you may re-apply to future positions even if you haven’t been selected in the past.

  1. What if I don’t see anything currently posted that matches my qualifications?

No, NDI does not collect Social Security Numbers or other national identification numbers or require bank account information at the application stage. NDI recruiters will never request payment to apply for NDI positions.
