2021 PPLI Open Call

BACKGROUND
The National Democratic Institute (NDI) is accepting applications from youth party members from Kenya and Zambia for the upcoming regional Political Party Leadership Institute (PPLI), scheduled to commence in November 2021. The PPLI is a regional peer-learning platform designed to enhance the participation of young people in democratic politics and political party processes. Specifically, the program aims to build youth party members’ capacity to navigate opportunities for participation in party processes and leadership by increasing their visibility, voice, and influence within their parties. Through PPLI youth party activists from Kenya and Zambia will receive hands-on training on how to build their leadership and organizational skills and complete their own self-initiated development project. Participants will draw on peer-to-peer experiences based on unique country contexts, foster networking, and engage senior party members to offer mentorship to participants.
PARTICIPANT CRITERIA
The Institute is looking for engaged youth party members from Kenya and Zambia who are passionate about political engagement in their countries and the continent of Africa. Participants will be selected on the basis of submission to this open call.
In order to be eligible, youth party member applicants must be:

between the ages of 18-34
-
an active member of their political party
-
able to commit to participate throughout the duration of the 12 month program

have access to a computer or smartphone to access and utilize the necessary platforms
Please note that the application includes a request for reference from your political party attesting to your party membership and support for the program.
