NDI Expresses Its Deepest Condolences on the Death of Christopher Msando and Joins in Call for Accountability
The National Democratic Institute (NDI) joins with the people of Kenya and the international community in offering deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Christopher Msando and to his colleagues at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), where he served as the Commission's ICT Manager. We also join with those calling for measures to protect IEBC officials so that they can carry out their responsibilities in organizing credible elections and for a full and effective investigation of Chris Msando's murder, bringing the perpetrator or perpetrators to justice.
"NDI is concerned for the safety of IEBC's staff and Commissioners, whose work is vital to achieving credible, peaceful elections," said NDI President Kenneth Wollack. "Kenyans want and deserve such elections, and Mr. Msando's family, friends and colleagues deserve to know that anyone responsible for this brutal murder will be held fully to account."
