Nairobi, Kenya – Today, the International Republican Institute (IRI) and the National Democratic Institute (NDI) completed their second joint pre-election assessment mission and released a Pre-Election Statement of findings and recommendations for Kenya’s August 9th elections. 

In recent years, countries in the Sahel region of Africa have faced widespread insecurity and instability. Stretching across the northern tier of sub-Saharan Africa, Sahel countries Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso have all experienced a series of military coups and rising levels of right-wing extremism.

 

NDI Encourages Lebanon to Seize the Opportunity of New Parliament to Strengthen Democratic Institutions

BEIRUT, Lebanon – The National Democratic Institute (NDI) today released its preliminary statement of findings and recommendations from its international election observation mission for Lebanon's 2018 parliamentary elections, held yesterday, May 6.

Abuja, Nigeria – The International Republican Institute (IRI) and the National Democratic Institute (NDI) announce the deployment of a joint international election observation mission (IEOM) to Nigeria.

Abuja, Nigeria - The International Republican Institute (IRI) and the National Democratic Institute (NDI) announce the arrival of their joint international election observation delegation to observe Nigeria’s gubernatorial and state assembly elections on March 9.  The 20 member delegation arrives in Abuja today. The delegation has received accreditation from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to observe the March 9 elections.

This Preliminary Statement is offered by the joint International Republican Institute (IRI) and National Democratic Institute (NDI) Zimbabwe International Election Observation Mission (ZIEOM) to the 2018 harmonized elections. The election is presently incomplete; the ZIEOM will, therefore, continue its observation and may issue further statements as warranted.
