NAIROBI, KENYA – Legislators from women’s parliamentary caucuses in Kenya, South Sudan, Somalia, and Uganda today formally established a regional coalition to be known as the Women’s Parliamentary Association (WPA) in the East Africa-based Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) region.

WASHINGTON, D.C. —  The implications for democracy of 30 African elections slated through 2016 will be discussed next week by senior Africa experts during a briefing and roundtable discussion at the National Democratic Institute (NDI).

Mr. Travis L. Adkins is a Lecturer of African and Security Studies at the Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. As an international development leader, he has two decades of experience working in governance, civil society and humanitarian affairs in over 50 nations throughout Africa and the Middle East.
