The Office Management team provides timely and effective administrative support services to the Institute’s D.C. office, so that the 250 personnel headquartered there can work efficiently and productively within a pleasing business environment. Day-to-day responsibilities include facilities and space management; vendor selection; reception; mailroom supervision; supply purchase and inventory; equipment acquisition, maintenance and repair; library services, data base training and management; and intranet upkeep and oversight.

The Operations team provides guidance and support in managing the risks associated with working and living in challenging international environments and offers assistance to staff in complex logistical situations, enabling program staff to focus on delivering quality field-based programs.

Combining practical, field-based expertise and broad institutional knowledge, the Operations team works to mitigate risk to NDI personnel and property while providing timely and informed solutions to the many security, travel, administrative and logistical issues that arise.

On October 24, 2007, the National Democratic Institute (NDI) presented its third annual Madeleine K. Albright Grant to the 50/50 Group of Sierra Leone. Founded in 2000 to promote greater participation of women in politics, the 50/50 Group has grown from a handful of women meeting in borrowed space in Freetown to a nationally recognized organization actively engaged in building a new post-war Sierra Leone in which women can share equally with men in the political decisions that affect their lives.
