NAIROBI, KENYA -- The National Democratic Institute's (NDI) international election delegation to Kenya's August 8 general elections released a preliminary election statement assessing the credibility of the election. The delegation found that the people of Kenya made their voices heard in a peaceful fashion through credible election processes.

A former congressman, ambassador and leader of the Initiative for Global Development, Green has extensive experience in, and deep knowledge of development, diplomacy and democracy.

NDI congratulates Daniel Twining on becoming president of the International Republican Institute. Twining, currently counselor and, previously, director of the Asia Program at the Washington D.C.-based German Marshall Fund, brings a wealth of experience to his new position, having served in the Congress, the State Department and the office of the U.S. Trade Representative. He also has taught at Georgetown University.
