“As a new democracy, Armenia faces a long road ahead,” said Ambassador Derek Mitchell, President of the National Democratic Institute, at the conclusion of a visit to the country. “But it’s clear the country already has at its disposal an abundance of ingredients for success. Chief among these are fresh democratic energy from a new generation of leaders, an increasing number of politically-active women and youth, and the support of the international community of democracies.”

NDI Poll: Opportunities and Challenges Facing Ukraine’s Democratic Transition - December 2019

The National Democratic Institute (NDI) has released its latest wave of national survey results in Ukraine. The most recent round of research, completed in December 2019, shows an optimistic and hopeful Ukraine with citizens expressing a clear desire to engage in politics. Across the country, and in every demographic group, Ukrainians continue to be united in the importance of Ukraine becoming a fully functioning democracy, with 81 percent of respondents sharing that view.
