With democratic governance under increasing pressure from autocratic expansion, corrupt networks, and multiple, overlapping environmental crises, the National Democratic Institute (NDI) redoubles its commitment to democratic unity and the principles of transparency, accountability and integrity through its robust engagement in the 2023 Global Summit of the Open Government Partnership (OGP) to be held in Tallinn, Estonia from September 4 - 8. 

National Democratic Institute (NDI) recently conducted meetings with political, civic and other partners to share its May 2024 public opinion poll, fielded in May. Since 2015, the NDI has conducted nationwide polling to assess Ukrainian public opinion on a range of topics related to its democratic trajectory, the geopolitical climate, and Ukrainians’ hopes for the future.

Senator Daschle is the Founder and CEO of The Daschle Group, A Public Policy Advisory of Baker Donelson. Senator Daschle served his home state, South Dakota, in the Senate from 1987 to 2005.  He is the only senator to have served twice as both Majority and Minority Leader.  In addition, Senator Daschle is Chair of the Board of Directors at the Center for American Progress, Vice-Chair for the National Democratic Institute and a co-founder of the Bipartisan Policy Center.

Mario Mitre is a Senior Advisor for Elections and Political Processes. Since 2005, he has collaborated with civic organizations on five continents to promote and protect the integrity of election processes through systematic, evidence based election observation, including Parallel Vote Tabulation, Sample Based Observation, Voter List Verifications and research on barriers to full citizens’ participation in election processes.

Sef Ashiagbor is NDI’s Deputy Director for Peace, Climate and Democratic Resilience.

Julia Brothers is a Senior Advisor for Elections at the National Democratic Institute (NDI). Ms. Brothers has worked in over 20 countries, including Guinea, Iraq, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Liberia, Nepal, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Ukraine, and Zimbabwe, leading electoral assessments and electoral integrity projects. She was based in South Sudan for the historic elections and referendum, and has significant experience in post-conflict and transitioning democracies. Ms.

Nadezhda Mouzykina is the Deputy Regional Director with the Central and Eastern Europe team. Since joining NDI in 2009 as a program officer, she has supported in-country and regional programming focused on parliamentary strengthening; political party and civil society development; election administration; and inclusion. Specifically, Ms. Mouzykina's work has focused on strengthening the civic and political participation of the Roma, women and youth, LGBTI, and religious minority groups.
