BEIRUT, Lebanon—The National Democratic Institute (NDI) is fielding a delegation to assess preparations for Lebanon’s municipal council and mayoral elections in May.
The National Democratic Institute (NDI) deployed an international delegation to Lebanon from March 11 - 15, 2018. The purpose of the mission was to assess preparations for Lebanon’s May 2018 elections to support efforts to conduct peaceful, credible polls.
Although Liberia’s 2005 democratic transition saw the election of Africa’s first woman head of state, Liberian women continue to face considerable challenges to their participation in political processes. While women are slowly closing the gap, they are still underrepresented as party and civil society leaders, elected representatives and government officials.

ACCRA, Ghana – The National Democratic Institute (NDI) is fielding a delegation to assess preparations for Ghana’s December 7, 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections. The mission will build upon the findings of a joint pre-election assessment mission that NDI conducted with the International Republican Institute (IRI) in August.
MONROVIA, Liberia – The National Democratic Institute (NDI) fielded an international election observation mission for Liberia's presidential run-off election yesterday.
AMMAN, Jordan – The National Democratic Institute (NDI) will field an international observation delegation for the Jan. 23 parliamentary elections in Jordan. The group, which includes 50 observers from 29 countries, is made up of a former head of state, former ambassadors and parliamentarians, current and former political party leaders, election officials, representatives of nongovernmental organizations and regional specialists.
Lebanon’s 2018 election marked the first time in nine years that its citizens voted for a new parliament. In order to support the Lebanese people and their government in upholding credibility, NDI conducted a long-term analysis of election preparations, fielded a pre-election mission during the campaign period in addition to an election day mission, and monitored reports covering the adjudication of disputed results.
