DISICON 2024: NDI's 6th Information Integrity Conference

NDI held its sixth conference on information integrity, DISICON, on December 6 and 7, 2023, in Pristina, Kosovo, with the overarching theme of “Understanding and Responding to Gendered Disinformation.” The conference brought together local, regional, and international experts from various fields to discuss gendered disinformation and its consequences, explore effective ways to combat it and elevate the protection of human rights in policy responses to these urgent information integrity issues

The Role of Parliament in Public Debt Management in Zambia

Debt can be an important mechanism for governments to invest in development and infrastructure, or respond to crises. However, over the past decade the public debt portfolio of many countries in Africa has ballooned to unsustainable levels, to the detriment of spending on essential public services. Parliaments have a critical role to play in providing oversight of government budgeting, borrowing, and spending, and serving as a check on the executive branch.
